Maurice is a soft gentleman in every sense: his belly, his cheeks, his biceps, and his softness for surprises, such as a house cat. He enjoys solving puzzles on the daily news, whether online or offline, and sitting, sipping tea from his favorite armchair by the fireplace. His favorite food is the Tillamook cheese close to his hometown, which Salvatore often adds to all kinds of cheesy stuff: burgers, lasagna, or just plain ol’ mac ‘n’ cheese.
Salvatore the homecook is Mexican. But his parents wanted some Italian flair. (It wasn’t trendy, they just liked pizza.) And indeed, he turned out to be quite a flirt. Despite his grandiose words, Salvatore is a man of action: he never promises something he can’t do. He wouldn’t run away without an explanation. Not that he has any need to. The world has been incredibly kind to him. It gifted him an equally passionate partner for life.
Together, they live in a cozy little house, in between vineyards and memories. Neither of them can believe it’s been over 40 years already. When they first met in the military, no one would have thought they’d get together, and see these peaceful days.
– Come on little dough. I’ve warmed you up enough. Don’t you disappoint me!
Salvatore’s brows furrow.
– Erm… I think we may have killed it when we put it in the pan.
– No!! It- It’s okay, maybe I can hug it and the rest will rise.
– I don’t know. You better not be soaking wet when I get back.
Maurice has a second thought and decides to heat up the water in the pan again, when suddenly:
– AAAHH!!! I’M SORRY!!!!!
It came from the bathroom.
– What’s wrong, Salvie?
Salvie steps out, distressed:
– Our socks… They’re covered in poop now.
The socks, which they had hung to dry on the towel racks. Maurice blinks.
– Sh*t.
